DIAMES

Quality control of rubber printing rollers

The DIAMES system is used to perform a quality control of rubber printing rollers through precise non contact measurements of their shape. A measurement head comprising a CCD camera and a telecentric backlight illumination unit is positioned precisely along the edge of the roller while taking a sequence of images. In each image, the edge of the cylinder is extracted and its position in global coordinates of the roller is measured. The measurements are combined together to produce a 3D model of the roller as well as graphs showing deviations from ideal shape.

DIAMES measurement machine Measured deviations from ideal shape

DIAMES builds on Neovision OPAS measurement technology in backlight illumination. The precision of measurements achieved in DIAMES is +/- 0.01 mm on objects of size 50 x 1100 mm. The system was developed in a cooperation with DEOM.
